Rolling Hills Wheelchair Race

On the 16th of November 2014 the Rural Ability team spent the day at the annual Rolling Hills Wheelchair Race organised by Madwaleni Hospital’s therapy department.  CBM sponsored transport money for Zukile, Mute and Sibusiso to attend the race.  Zukile won the 2,5km race and Mute and Sibusiso took third and fourth place respectfully in the 5km race.

The event provided an ideal space for the Community Disability Workers to create awareness of the capabilities of people with disabilities.  They performed an entertaining and impactful skit which clearly demonstrated how society often underestimates the enormous potential of people with disabilities.

The day was a resounding success and provided an opportunity for participants to show their competitive spirit and socialise with other sportsmen and women in the area.
